Former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Gen Kale Kayihura paid a visit to President Yoweri Museveni at his home in Rwakitura on Thursday, December 27, 2024, accompanied by his family.
The President warmly welcomed Gen Kayihura’s family, particularly his daughter, Tesi Uwibambe, who had recently gotten married in Kisoro. Although President Museveni couldn’t attend the wedding, he sent Minister Persis Namuganza as his representative.
A long-term UPDF cadre, Gen Kayihura’s function in Kisoro was attended by senior military officers, including the Chief of Defense Forces Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba. Gen Kainerugaba had earlier expressed his appreciation to Gen Kayihura as one of the few officers who inspired him to join the military.
“Gen. Kayihura was one of those special cadres in the early 1990s who inspired us to serve our nation. Others were late Generals Mayombo and Kazini,” Gen Kainerugaba said in a post on X (formerly Twitter).
Gen Kayihura expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the President for the warm reception, stating that the gesture was “priceless” and “unforgettable.”
He released a statement, saying, “We appreciate His Excellency, Mzee, for the warm reception, welcome, and honor to our daughter, Tesi Uwibambe, and our family when we visited him at his home in Rwakitura, on the morning of Thursday, 27th December 2024.”
