The Uganda Police Force has given the green light for musician Mansoor Ssemanda, aka King Saha’s much-anticipated music concert at Lugogo Cricket Oval in Kampala after a successful review to ensure the safety of revellers.
The show, scheduled for today, Friday, January 24, 2025, had been called off by police yesterday, citing concerns over the safety of Ugandans amid structural failures at the venue.
However, a police statement released this morning confirmed that a joint meeting between security teams, event organisers, and venue managers took place to assess the conditions at the venue, and the event has been okayed to proceed as planned.
“Today, a joint security team, along with the event organisers and venue managers, met at the cricket oval to reevaluate how the event can proceed while adhering to previously recommended safety measures,” the statement read.
Police confirmed that the event which is expected to draw tens of thousands at Lugogo will proceed as scheduled, but with one key restriction to ensure the safety of revellers.
“Following this meeting, it has been decided that the event will take place as scheduled at the Cricket Oval; however, use of the pavilion will be strictly prohibited due to its structural condition, which poses a risk to revellers,” the statement added.
The announcement by police brings relief to fans eagerly awaiting King Saha’s performance, ensuring the event will go on while prioritizing the safety of attendees.
