The Territorial Police in Greater Masaka Region have recovered multiple stolen motorcycle number plates found in the suspect’s plantation in Lwengo, central Uganda.

The discovery comes amid ongoing investigations into a motorcycle robbery case involving Jumba Rashid, who was already in police custody.

While addressing the media on Monday at Naguru headquarters, Uganda Police Spokesperson ACP Rusoke Kituuma confirmed the recovery of the number of players recovered from Lweyebere Village, Lwengo Rural Sub-County, following an operation conducted in collaboration with local community members.

“On March 1, 2025, Lwengo Central Police Station received intelligence from an informant about suspected stolen motorcycle number plates found in Jumba Rashid’s plantation,” ACP Kituuma stated.

“Rashid was already in police custody for a related robbery case involving a motorcycle. Police conducted a search in Lweyebere village, Lwengo rural sub-county, with the help of local community members. They recovered the following motorcycle number plates: UFC 520W, UFH 779X, UFN 559V, and UFH 963F,” he added.

Further investigations, according to ACP Kituuma, led the police team to Mirembe Village in Ndagwe Sub-County, where officers, joined by local council leaders, conducted another search at the suspect’s residence.

“A search at the suspect’s house yielded a motorcycle key, three broken motorcycle number plate guards, one side mirror, three spanners, the remains of a burnt motorcycle seat cover, and a hidden motorcycle number plate, UFC 057C,” ACP Kituuma confirmed.

Police have since launched a full investigation to establish the extent of the criminal network behind the motorcycle thefts and identify any other individuals involved.
