King Joseph is what the late Mowzey Radio would call singer Joseph Mayanja alias Jose Chameleone. Jose Chameleone started singing 25 years ago and in Niarobi Kenya is where he says his music journey started.

On Saturday August 31st, Chameleone staged his Legend in Gold VIP concert at Kampala Serena Hotel’s Victoria Hall. It was a success as tables were sold out few days to the D-day. The Legend in Gold Concert came a few months after another success show by Chameleone dubbed Gwanga Mujje.

Reminiscing on the Gwanga Mujje concert, it didn’t happen on the planned date but rather two weeks after because of the heavy storms that caused the collapse of the stage. The stage that was built by renowned events production house Fenon Events collapsed. Although netizens had showered praise on how beautiful the stage was, Fenon put up another beautiful stage with great production and the show finally came to pass.

Over the weekend, Chameleone still proved that when it comes to his events, it will still be Fenon events and while at the Serena, Fenon displayed another character in events production.

A glimpse of the Fenon stage set up from the crowd

Inside the Kampala Serena Hotel, one thing one would notice besides the big crowds was how lit the stage was. The stage was wide with nice graphics in the background and great sounds and venue lighting. Back to Chameleone, the man of the moment. His program was a bit different as opposed to other artistes that open the show with curtain raiser and later they show up to perform for the crowd. For Chameleone, he kicked off the show at 8pm and performed nonstop up to 10pm. Chameleone catalogue is so big to the moment that he said if he was supposed to sing all his songs, the show would go on from last Saturday to Monday. “I talk a lot but today I didn’t come to talk but rather to sing, Chameleone said as he did songs from way back like Mama Mia, Katupakase, Jamila, Kipepeo to new songs like Forever, Mateeka and Badilisha among others.

Jose Chameleone performed from 8pm to 2pm at the Legend in Gold Concert

He performed in 3 segments as the first started from 8pm to 10pm and the other from 10:30pm to half passed midnight and the last session closed the show with Wale Wale, a song he did around 2015.

When he went for breathers, Chameleone left stage for other artistes. Singer Mesach Semakula did two songs before leaving the stage for singer Pallaso . In the other half, we saw the Hozambe singer step on for about one minute leaving it for Mun-G. Weasel also had a session of his own and performed Lwaki Onumya, Magnetic and Zuena.

Surprise acts across the region also showed up for the show and performed before the show closed. Among these were Ferooz from Tanzania and Red San from Kenya.

Revelers from the VIP section

To close the show, Chameleone recognized and awarded some of the people who have walked the musical journey with him and among these were his parents, brothers Pallaso and Weasel, Bebe Cool, Chagga and Ogopa Djs among others.
