Joint Security Forces have arrested a Karimojong warrior who on Tuesday allegedly shot dead Alfred Lokong Namboso, the head teacher of Narube Primary School in Kaabong district.

Loumwa Lomol, a resident of Moruangikamar village in Kathile sub-county, was arrested in Kamachariko Trading Centre.

Major Isacc Oware, the UPDF 3rd Division Spokesperson, said after his arrest, the forces mounted a search at Loumwa’s home that led to the recovery of an AK 47 rifle No. 27326 with 28 rounds of ammunition.

According to Oware, upon interrogation, the suspect further revealed that, together with other suspects who are still at large, including one UPDF deserter identified as Lioki Lokiding, he shot dead Namboso with two bullets.

“On 29 August 2024, at around 17:00hrs, our Anti Stock Theft Unit (ASTU) received intelligence about a wanted warrior named Loumwa Lomol, who was reportedly drinking at Kamacharikol Centre in Kaabong District.

Following this information, the officers arrested him, and during interrogation, he disclosed the location of his firearm.

The officers then proceeded to Moru-Ngikamar village in Lobatou parish, where they recovered a rifle containing 28 rounds of ammunition.

Further questioning revealed that Lomol, along with a UPDF deserter named Lioki Lokiding, was involved in the shooting deaths of the head teacher and his wife at Narube primary school the previous day. They targeted the head teacher to prevent him from testifying against Lokiding’s brother, who is imprisoned for stealing food from the school.
