A police sniffer dog named Scooby is the talk of town in  Nakaseke district after it helped to recover stolen money to the tune of nine million shillings from burglars. Scooby has also led to the arrest of three suspects on Wednesday,  September 24, 2024.

Scooby saved the day when it led the police to Bwerampindi village, Kisoga parish in Nakaseke central, where the stolen money was found hidden in a mud and wattle house. Thereafter, the same dog led policemen to the house of the main suspect, who happened to be a neighbour to the complaint.

Savannah Police region spokesperson Sam Twinemazima said the police swung into action after receiving a complaint from Jamada Bogere, who  lost  the money to unidentified thugs who broke into his house on Monday night.
Twinemazima on Tuesday identified the arrested suspects as Abdul Makanga, Adam Sekasi, and Godfrey Ondama  who are alleged to have conspired in the burglary.

According to Twinemazima, after recovering the stolen money, the dog traced the scent for about 200 meters, leading Police to the home of Makanga who, after interrogation, revealed his alleged accomplices.

Twinemazima said Makanga, Sekasi, and Ondama were subsequently arrested and taken to  Kiwoko Police Station in Nakaseke district where charges of burglary and theft were preferred.
