The Corporate Sports Network (CSN) outing at Makerere University Business School Arena on March 23, 2025, was more than just a competitive sports affair. There was entertainment, provided by the talented duo of Maulana Kasozi and Obed Lubega (Reign)
The talented comedians brought the house down, delivering an evening filled with laughter and entertainment. Fans, athletes, and MUBS students who gathered to watch the football and basketball games were thrown in fits of laughter, and many agreed humour stole the show at the outing.
Their set kicked off with one of their popular songs, “Head Girl,” which did well to rouse the crowds. They then playfully poked fun at various personalities in attendance, especially the Arsenal and Manchester United fans in attendance. Their jokes hit a sweet spot, balancing light-hearted banter with affectionate teasing. Some people, however, looked on uneasily as they did some tribal jokes, but thankfully they were not offensive.
Just when the crowd was warming up to their humour, they cut the performance short in a bid to break their fast. Many later commended CSN organisers led by operations manager Julie Makune for adding the spark of entertainment to the outing.
On the basketball courts, talented players displayed dazzling ball-handling skills, executing no-look passes, behind-the-back dribbles, and gravity-defying dunks that left audiences breathless.
Some of the teams that showed real potential as champions include, Centenary Bank and Post Bank, who lead Group A with maximum points. In group B, last year’s losing finalists, Hotel Africana started from where they stopped winning both games. Close on their heels is DTB Bank.
In football, URA showed they mean business this season as they won their games and topped the group in the second outing. There were mixed fortunes for newcomers: Absa Bank, Equity Bank, Post Bank, and Electricity Regulatory Authority, as many struggled to find the net.
The next outing will be held at the former GEMS Cambridge International School in Butabika, Luzira at the end of April.
