Former Jinja Road Division Police Commander (DPC) Julius Ahimbisibwe has been found dead.

His body was discovered this morning in a septic tank at his residence in Nakitokolo, Kyengera town council, where the alleged domestic violence incident involving his wife had previously taken place.

Ahimbisibwe had been at the centre of a high-profile investigation after reportedly shooting and injuring his wife during a heated altercation in 2023. He was arrested and later released on bail while the case remained active in court.

Despite the gravity of the accusations, he had continued to face public scrutiny and legal pressure over the unresolved matter.

This tragic incident has sent shockwaves through the law enforcement community and the public at large, raising fresh concerns over the mental health and accountability of individuals in positions of authority.

Police spokesperson Kituuma Rusoke confirmed the former police commander’s death and revealed that investigations were ongoing to determine what exactly happened.  “We are waiting on the postmortem report before coming up with a conclusive statement. Having a rope around one’s neck isn’t enough to confirm suicide,” Rusoke told the press.

The body was conveyed to Mulago City mortuary as investigations were undergoing.
