Former Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) Executive Director Mrs. Dothorty Kisaka was emotional on Tuesday as she narrated the events that marked the end of her tenure at the Authority.

Speaking at the launch of her new book at the Kampala Sheraton, Kasaka broke down in tears, revealing how her life was turned upside down by the tragic Kiteezi landfill collapse that killed several inhabitants in August 2024.

“Seven months ago, my life changed. But seven months later, it’s a brand new day. It’s a day of new beginnings,” she said, fighting tears.

In prison, Kasaka narrated that she received a lot of love from her friends, supporters, work colleagues, and church members.

“I want to thank my brothers and sisters for visiting me in that place during that very difficult time,” she said.

“I got so many visitors in that place. There were hundreds…you would think I had spent the whole year. They included ministers, prime ministers, archbishops, and the entire body of Christ.

“One of the inmates asked why I had brought all my fame to prison.”

Her new book, titled “Lead The Shift: The 7 Hills City Explosion,” captures her four-year tenure and experience at the helm of KCCA and the impact and transformation of the “7 Hills group” of the two groups charged with cleaning Kampala.

The book launch was graced by a number of top dignitaries, including former Prime Minister Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda and the current KCCA ED, Hajjat Sharifah Buzeki.
