The former Supreme Mufti of the Kibuli Muslim faction, Sheikh Siliman Kasule Ndirangwa, has died.

Ndirangwa, who resigned in April 2021 and was replaced by Sheikh Muhammad Galabuzi, was aged 62.

Speaking to the Newsroom following the news of Ndirangwa’s death, Hajji Ali Ssemugenze, the deceased’s brother, confirmed that the cleric passed away at Mengo Hospital, where he had been admitted since last week.

“We are going to miss him. He was one of the strongest pillars of our family.”  Ssemugenze said.

He revealed that the deceased will be buried on Saturday at 4 pm  at his ancestral grounds in Kirayangoma in Masaka District.

Sheikh Ndirangwa succeeded Sheikh Zubair Kayongo, who passed away in April 2015.  He became the second leader to hold the title of Supreme Mufti under the Kibuli faction.
