Chief of Defense Forces Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba has received the new Japanese Ambassador to Uganda, Sasayama Takuya, at the Special Forces Command headquarters in Entebbe.
The Uganda Peoples Defence Forces says Kainerugaba, who is also senior presidential advisor for special operations, welcomed the new ambassador on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, before they engaged in a private meeting to discuss bilateral co-operation between Uganda and Japan.
Takuya, who was accompanied by his deputy, Tomotaka Yoshimura, replaced Fukuzawa Hidemoto, who concluded his tour of duty in Uganda recently.
During his previous meeting with Japan’s envoy, Kainerugaba expressed his gratitude to his friend — Ambassador Fukuzawa and the Japanese government for their ‘significant contributions to Uganda’s development, particularly in the areas of infrastructural development, agriculture, and support for refugees.’
