Katonga is full of impostors – FDC President Amuriat

FDC President Patrick Oboi Amuriat, also known as POA is not about to reconcile with the Katonga FDC faction anytime soon.  He has branded them impostors.

He echoed this on Thursday, October 10, 2024, during his appearance before the Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Committee, chaired by Stephen Bakka Mugabi (Bukooli North, NRM), Amuriat expressed gratitude to lawmakers for inviting the legitimate FDC.

“We are the FDC. We have got an elected leadership that was elected on the 6th of October last year in a national delegates conference that was properly convened. We have control over all the facets of a political party that I lead. I am President by the way, properly elected and I am glad that the clerk while communicating to us, wrote to the secretary general of the FDC,” he remarked

Adding that “The official seal of the party is held in Najjanankumbi on plot 1664 – Entebbe road. All communications out of the FDC are made by the right honorable Nathan Nandala Mafabi James, the secretary general of FDC. The signature of Nandala and that of Ekanya are recognized in all the banks where we hold accounts.”

Turning to the media, he said there is no such faction of FDC based at Katonga. Therefore, whoever continues to hold out as FDC and is not aligned to Najjanankumbi is fake.

“So our friends sitting in Katonga are impostors. I want to repeat that. I do understand that they have formed a new party called the PFF (People’s Front for Freedom) and we can only wish them well. We are firmly in charge of FDC and would be happy that you continue communicating to us as such,” Amuriat clarified.

“We also sponsor candidates under our seal and signature of the secretary general (Nandala Mafabi). I have never seen anybody from that group that is disenchanted doing that. These are normal political differences that all of us experience. The good thing about FDC is that we have mastered the art of stabilizing our party when we have turmoil,” he doubled down.

His comments were triggered by Bukooli central MP Solomon Silwany’s (NRM) remarks. Silwany claims to have belonged to FDC years back, asked the FDC supremo for clarification on which faction he leads.

“Which FDC is this one. Because I have been told there are two. Is this the one of Katonga

“The official seal of the party is held in Najjanankumbi on plot 1664 – Entebbe road. All communications out of the FDC are made by the right honorable Nathan Nandala Mafabi James, the secretary general of FDC. The signature of Nandala and that of Ekanya are recognized in all the banks where we hold accounts,” he stated.

This is not the first time; the two factions are going bare knuckle. At the peak of their wrangles, Amuriat accused the Kira Municipality of incompetence, saying he had failed to furnish them with periodical reports while he was the party whip.

In response, Semujju this year trashed reconciliation reports at the beginning of the year.
