
President Yoweri Museveni has eulogised the late Brigadier General (rtd) Frank Katende Kyambadde as a special shield in ensuring peace, security, and stability of the county.
Kyambadde, who retired last year from active service in UPDF, died in a grisly accident on Black Friday (September 13) along the Kampala Masaka highway.
During his burial in Rushasha, Bubaare, Kashari in Mbarara district on Tuesday, President Museveni said Kyambadde was the pioneer of the artillery unit, which later became the Division. He hailed Kyambadde for his dedication to safeguarding the country.
“Kyambadde has been an instrumental in artillery since its inception. I want to thank the Artillery Division for following Kyambadde and giving him his honours,” Museveni said in a speech read by State Minister of Internal Affairs, Gen. David Muhoozi.
Museveni gave shs 30 million as his condolence package, thanked the widow for supporting the deceased, and urged her and the children to uphold his legacy. UPDF controbuted shillings 74 million towards burial arrangements.
Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, the Commander of Defence Forces, who was represented by Maj. General Francis Takirwa, said Brig. General (rtd) Kyambadde has diligently served his country in both command and staff positions since he joined the forces.
Military History
Kyambadde joined the forces on the 13th March 1979 as a recruit commissioned to the rank of second lieutenant on the 8th February 1988 and served in various capacities, where he rose through the ranks and appointments until 2019 when he was promoted to the rank of Brig. General, and he retired from active service on the 31st July 2023.
He is survived by a widow, children, and grandchildren.
