Celebrated Ugandan photographer Saad Byakuleka, widely known by his brand name Saad Shots, is dead, The Newsroom can confirm.
Saad, who was in his early 30s, died following a tragic motorbike accident on Friday evening, April 18, 2025. The crash happened just moments after he shared a Snapchat post featuring himself alongside the motorbike on the road, which now appears to have been his final moment captured on camera.
Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy Spokesperson ASP Luke Owoyesigyire confirmed the development in a Friday evening post on his X account, saying Saad was involved in a head-on accident with another rider, and the two were killed instantly at the scene.
“Yes, it is true. Two motorcycles were involved in a fatal accident at Bugonga Junction near the air base. Both riders were pronounced dead at the scene. Efforts are underway to have their bodies taken to Mulago City Mortuary,” Owoyesigyire posted.
Friends and fellow creatives also confirmed Saad’s passing later in the evening, prompting an outpouring of grief across the entertainment, sports, and photography circles where he had made his mark.
“It’s unbelievable. He was full of life, and his talent was unmatched,” said a close associate in the creative industry.
Known for his quiet demeanour and sharp lens, Saad had built a powerful brand across Uganda’s entertainment, wildlife, and sports industries. His photography, celebrated for its clarity and emotional depth, featured prominently in campaigns by both local and international clients.
