The demand for release of National Unity’s Platform (NUP) supporters and staff is still undergoing and whereas somewhere released, others are still in Luzira prisons. This follows the never ending unclear arrests that started many months before the Presidential campaigns. The latest has been Achileo Kivumbi, Bobi Wines Head of Security at National Unity Platform.
Kivumbi was abducted by Military Operatives from his home for reasons that were later learnt to be connected to treason. Among the things they found at his home in Nansana when the search was conducted included one pair of lieutenant colonel’s pip which are not meant for civilians.
Kivumbi was arrested on August 1st and recently, he was remanded to Luzira prisons and will return to court next month. On the same day of the Kivumbi’s arrest, another person who is a NUP supporter and friend to Kivumbi was also arrested. Security detail was also brutally arrested by Police. Ezra Luswata Nakibinge, a resident of Namasuba Kikajjo located in Wakiso District was arrested on the same day but since today, his whereabouts have not been known by Family, friends and the NUP members .
Kivumbi joined other NUP prisoners at Luzira and among them is Umar Magala who has spent several months at the high detention facilities.
Kyagulanyi’s Boy Guard Kvumbi Achileo was arrested after a search was done at his home
More arrests are being made with another one being for Latif Madoi who arrested in May and was later released but with his dreadlocks cut off. Madoi was arrested on charges of being in possession of Military outfits which are said to belong to Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine.
Speaking recently during a Press conference, Robert Kyagulanyi said that all the arrests are wrong and that the military outfits, pips and all those allegations are only planted by security personnel.
