Jinja engineer pinned in shs2b property theft from American investor

Stephen Bogere, a renowned engineer in Jinja City  and his accomplice Wycliffe Ntende have been arraigned before the courts of law on charges of theft and conspiracy to commit a felony.
The State House Anti-Corruption Unit (SHACU), together with the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution (ODPP) and the Crime Intelligence Directorate (CID), arraigned the duo before the Jinja court grade one magistrate Yafesi Ochieng on Wednesday. 
The duo and others still at large in Jinja City conspired and stole properties, including motor vehicles, household properties, and land worth shillings two billion.
She said the properties belonged to American entrepreneur Eric Krane Scott, who had come to invest and settle in Jinja City.
During the court session, both Ntende, 30, and Bogere, 60, denied the charges.
Ntende is facing two counts, with the first being theft of household items, while on the second count, he is jointly charged with Bogere with conspiracy of theft of a red Mitsubishi Eclipse UBP 419R. Ntende was employed by the investor as a dog handler.
According to the court, the offence was committed between February and July this year in Walukuba Masese division in Jinja city.
During the court session, Ntende asked the court to consider his poor health and that of his wife, who underwent surgery while giving birth recently. 
However, Ocheing remanded the duo to Kirinya prisons until October 17, 2024.
