Maj. Gen Otto named new UPDF intelligence chief

The Chief of Defence Forces General Muhoozi Kainerugaba has appointed the Mountain Infantry Division Commander Major General Richard Otto the new Chief of Defence Intelligence and Security (CDIS) of the UPDF.

Defence Intelligence and Security was formerly known as Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence(CMI).

The new changes have also seen Maj Gen Birungi swap positions with Maj Otto and will now take over as the  new Mountain Infantry Division Commander based in Fort Portal.

As Mountain Infantry Division Commander he will also serve as  the Joint Task Force Commander of UPDF troops under Operation Shujaa in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo.

“The changes take immediate effect. The UPDF fraternity congratulates the General officers on their new appointments and wishes them good luck in their future endeavors,” the acting Defence spokesperson, Col Chris Magezi said on Wednesday.
